Equine Reiki ‘Spot’ Treatments

27 January 2015 By ReikiJane

What is a ‘spot’ treatment?

A ‘spot’ treatment is used to target a specific problem or issue.  Instead of giving a full Reiki treatment to your horse, you simply treat the area that needed healing energy.

I find spot treatments are really useful as they can be carried out very quickly and are effective for a lot of issues and problems that you might have when you are with your horse (or with humans, of course).  Give it a try and see what happens!

How do I perform a spot treatment?

You go through your usual protection, grounding and cleansing ritual (only taking a few minutes) then attune to the Reiki energy, visualising and feeling the radiant Reiki energy flowing out through your hands.  Next you would place your hands where the problem is (or at the appropriate Chakra energy centre) and intend the Reiki energy to go where it is most needed.  Once the energy has stopped flowing, take your hands away and go through your normal disconnection process.

What are the benefits of giving a spot treatment?

  • immediate help for the problem
  • can provide quick pain relief
  • carried out there and then – anywhere, anytime
  • no need for pre-treatment work

What can a spot treatment be used for?

  • mintor injuries
  • tension
  • spooking
  • reducing stress
  • stiffness in the joints
  • calming and relaxing your horse
  • getting your horse in or out of the horse box
  • prior to riding or for competition riding – to relax both you and your horse!
  • to surround your horse and yourself with positive energy if you are in a noisy, tense environment
  • distant healing for a specific issue

Spot treatments are a great way to help you and your horse through the day and to deal with the little things that tend to happen along the way!  When faced with a situation or issue, always think ‘Reiki First’ and be prepared to change things for the better.
