
| As the vibrant energy of summer gives way to the quiet transformation of autumn, nature invites us to slow down, reflect and release energy that no longer serves us. In Reiki practice, this seasonal shift mirrors our own energetic cycles of growth, letting go and renewal. By aligning our energy with the rhythm of autumn, we can deepen our connection to Reiki and bring greater balance and harmony to body, mind and spirit.Autumn is a season of transition — the trees shed their leaves, daylight shortens and the air turns crisp. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, autumn is associated with the element of metal and the lungs and large intestine meridians, symbolising release and purification. Just as trees let go of their leaves to prepare for winter’s stillness, we too are encouraged to release old habits, emotions or beliefs that weigh us down. Reiki offers a gentle, yet powerful way to support this process. During your self-healing practice, set an intention to clear and balance your energy field. Place your hands on your heart chakra and focus on your breathing. With each inhale, draw in the nourishing, cleansing energy of Reiki. With each exhale, imagine releasing tension, grief, or anything you are ready to let go of. This mindful connection to breath not only harmonises your energy but also strengthens the lungs — the organs most affected by the autumn season. The heart of Reiki practice lies in being present. Autumn reminds us that change is natural and necessary for growth. If you notice feelings of melancholy or resistance as the days shorten, allow Reiki to help you accept these emotions with compassion. You might visualise the golden light of autumn leaves surrounding you, filling you with warmth, gratitude and peace.This season also invites us to turn inward and practice self-nurturing. As nature withdraws its energy inward to prepare for renewal, we too can benefit from rest, reflection and simplicity. Create a sacred space for your Reiki practice — light a candle, burn incense, or use essential oils like frankincense or cedarwood to ground your energy. Regular self-Reiki treatments at this time of year can help restore equilibrium and strengthen your immune system as the weather cools. Autumn is also a beautiful time to express gratitude. As you give Reiki to yourself, your loved ones, or even the world, take a moment to reflect on the blessings in your life. Gratitude raises your vibration and helps your Reiki flow more freely. You might even create an “autumn gratitude ritual” — writing down what you are thankful for and sending Reiki energy to those intentions.Just as the Earth prepares for winter’s rest, let this season guide you to release what no longer serves your highest good and make space for new beginnings. Through Reiki, you can align with autumn’s natural rhythm — finding peace in change, strength in surrender and beauty in letting go. Here is a simple Autumn Reiki Release Practice: The Autumn Reiki Release PracticePurpose: To align your energy with the season of letting go and renewal. Prepare your space Sit comfortably in a quiet space. Light a candle or use grounding essential oils such as frankincense, cypress, or sandalwood. Connect to Reiki Activate Reiki using your preferred method and invite the energy to flow through you for your highest good. Breathe with awareness Place your hands on your heart chakra. Inhale deeply, drawing in pure, healing light. Exhale slowly, releasing all tension, sadness, or resistance. Visualise the outbreath carrying away old energy like autumn leaves floating gently to the ground. Hand positions Heart chakra (emotional release) Solar plexus (empowerment and clarity) Sacral chakra (grounding and balance) Spend several minutes on each chakra, allowing Reiki to flow where it is most needed. Set your intention Silently affirm to yourself: “I release what no longer serves me. I trust the natural flow of change.
